This new group has been officially recognised by the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) . It is named EMM-negative , and is unlike any previously known blood type . The rare blood group is colloquially called "Gwada negative" because it was discovered in a woman from Guadeloupe , a French overseas territory.
