Framing of the Indian Constitution
- Â The idea to have a constitution was given by MN Â Roy (political philosopher)
- Â The constitution was framed by the constituent assembly of India, set up in December 1946, in accordance with the cabinet mission plan, under the chairmanship of sachidanand Sinha comma initially. When the demise of sachidanand Sinha, Doctor Rajendra Prasad was elected as the President. B N Rao was Appointed as the Constitution Advisor.
- Â The total membership of constitute constituent assembly was 389, when 93 weird representative from the Indian state and other from British India.
- Â The chairman of the drafting committee was Dr BR Ambedkar, also called the father of the Constitution.
Note: the member of the interim government were members of the Viceroy's Executive Council. The Viceroy continued to be the head of the Council But, Jawaharlal Nehru was designated as the vice president of the Council.

- Â The constituent assembly took 2 years, 11 months and 18 years to complete the Constitution.
- Â Some of the provisions as those related to citizenship collections, provisional Parliament etc comma we are given immediate effect.
- Â The constitution, adopt on 26th November 1949, contained 395 Articles and schedules, presently, it has 465 articles and 12 Schedules, and 25 parts.
- Â The constitution was declared till 26th January because, 1929, on this day Indian National Congress demanded Purna Swaraj in Lahore Session, Chaired by JL Nehru.
- Â The constitution came into force on 26th January 1950, known as Republic Day of India. The constituent assembly adopted our national flag on 2nd July, 1947. It was designed by Pingali Venkiah.
 Preamble
- Â It is the preface of the introduction of the Constitution. It is an integral part of the Constitution. The interpretation of the Constitution is based on the spirit of the Preamble.
- Â The objective Resolution, was drafted and moved by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and adopted by the Constituent assembly comma ultimately became the Preamble.
- Â The idea of the Preamble was borrowed from the Constitution of USA.
- Â The words, socialist, Secular and Integrity were added by the 42nd Amendment Act in 1976.
The Preamble States.
"We, the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic and to secure to all its citizens, justic social, economics and political; liberty of thought experience; belief; faith and worship;
Equality of status and of opportunities and to promote among them all;
Fraternity assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the nation;
On our constituent assembly, this 26 day of November, 1949, do hereby adopt in act and give to over self the Constitution."
