Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved Miniratna Category-I status for the following three Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs):

  1. Munitions India Limited (MIL)

  2. Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL)

  3. India Optel Limited (IOL)

  • These three entities were carved out from the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in October 2021 under a major restructuring initiative aimed at boosting efficiency, transparency, and self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector.

  • Miniratna status provides financial autonomy, enhancing their operational flexibility and decision-making power.

  2. आर्मर्ड व्हीकल्स निगम लिमिटेड (AVNL)

  3. इंडिया ऑप्टेल लिमिटेड (IOL)

  • ये तीनों कंपनियाँ अक्टूबर 2021 में ऑर्डनेंस फैक्टरी बोर्ड (OFB) से पुनर्गठन के तहत अलग की गई थीं।

  • मिनी रत्न का दर्जा मिलने से इन कंपनियों को अधिक वित्तीय और प्रशासनिक स्वतंत्रता मिलेगी, जिससे रक्षा क्षेत्र में 'आत्मनिर्भर भारत' अभियान को बल मिलेगा।
