Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved Miniratna Category-I status for the following three Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs):

  1. Munitions India Limited (MIL)

  2. Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL)

  3. India Optel Limited (IOL)

๐Ÿข Background:

  • These three entities were carved out from the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) in October 2021 under a major restructuring initiative aimed at boosting efficiency, transparency, and self-reliance in the defence manufacturing sector.

  • Miniratna status provides financial autonomy, enhancing their operational flexibility and decision-making power.
