भारत ने अपना पहला Equine Disease-Free Compartment (EDFC) उत्तर प्रदेश के मेरठ छावनी स्थित Remount Veterinary Corps (RVC) Centre & College में स्थापित किया है।

इस इकाई को World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) द्वारा वैश्विक मान्यता प्राप्त हो गई है, जिससे अब भारतीय स्पोर्ट्स हॉर्सेज़ अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिताओं में भाग लेने के लिए योग्य हो गए हैं।
