On June 9, 2025, India expressed serious concerns after Pakistan was appointed to a key position in United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) Counter-Terrorism Committee.
The committee was originally established by UNSC Resolution 1373, adopted unanimously on 28 September 2001, in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.
Given recent terror incidents and military tensions, India's concerns revolve around Pakistan’s track record in addressing terrorism and its links to several groups designated as terrorist organizations.
