Explanation (English)

The Finance Commission of India is a constitutional body responsible for distributing financial resources between the Central Government and State Governments. It ensures a fair and systematic allocation of tax revenues.

The Finance Commission is established under Article 280 of the Constitution.
The President appoints the Finance Commission every 5 years or earlier if needed.

Functions of Finance Commission

• Distribution of tax revenue between Centre and States

• Distribution of grants-in-aid from Centre to States

• Measures to improve the financial condition of states

• Recommendations regarding the Consolidated Fund of India

Composition

The Finance Commission consists of:
